New Delhi: The 12 digit number issued by UIDAI to the citizens in the country is called Aadhaar number. Aadhaar card is mainly used in banks, income tax identification, public distribution system. It also serves as an address and ID proof. In addition the PAN card is a unique 10 digit identification number.
While the Aadhaar card can be used as proof of identity and place of residence, the PAN card helps the Income Tax Authority to keep track of all financial transactions. As such, they are both very important documents for us. Often people have a problem with the name being wrong. Your name can be corrected in AADHAAR card and PAN card.
How to correct your name in AADHAAR card
To correct your name in AADHAAR card, you have to go to AADHAAR Nomination Center and fill up AADHAAR Amendment Form. There you have to fill in the correct information in the form as well as attach a copy of the documents in which your correct names are recorded. You then have to pay 25 25 to ₹ 30 to update the information. Following this process will correct your name.
How to correct your name in PAN card
If there is a mistake in the name in the PAN card, visit the National Securities Depository Limited website. Select the ‘Correction in Existing PAN’ option here. Then select the category type. You must also attach a copy of the documents in which your correct names are recorded. After doing so, click on Submit option. You will be charged for all these. After which the updated PAN card will be sent to the registered address within 45 days from the day of application.
